The work will take place from Monday 21 April to Wednesday 23 April between 6am and 3pm (weather permitting).
The work will involve the closure of one northbound lane from Avon Dam Road to Picton Road, with one northbound lane operating at all times.
A reduced speed limit of 40kmh will apply over the 2 kilometre site, and motorists are asked to be alert for workers during this time.
Electronic message signs are on site to provide motorists with advanced notice of the changed traffic conditions.
Motorists heading to Sydney may wish to detour via Remembrance Drive and rejoin the highway via Picton Road to avoid this work.
The work involves the resurfacing of the northbound carriageway, and is part of the $3.3 million Hume Highway resurfacing project currently underway.
Construction work on this project is being carried out in the day, as the new open grade surface needs to be laid in warmer daytime temperatures.
There is also a high volume of heavy vehicle traffic using the highway at night, which compromises the safety of workers on site.
The RTA appreciates the co-operation of motorists while this essential work is carried out.
