Renewing or transferring registration is easy
It’s easy to renew your rego online or by phone. All safety checks (previously pink slip) are sent to Roads and Maritime Services electronically and most new vehicles will not need an inspection until they are over five years old.
Renew your rego in three easy steps:
Renew your rego now
- Renew your green slip – most green slips are sent electronically to Roads and Maritime Services by your insurer.
Before you renew - compare green slip prices from ALL insurers with the green
slip calculator at www.greenslips.nsw.gov.au. -
Get an e-Safety check (previously a pink slip) – only needed if your vehicle is more than
five years old*. Check your renewal notice to see if you need one. The term of your CTP
green slip must be the same as the term of your vehicle registration.* Light vehicles only. Some exceptions apply. Your renewal notice will indicate if an inspection is required.
- Renew your rego online – you'll need to have your Certificate of Registration Renewal
Notice handy. Primary Producers can self declare on myRego but must be able to supply
appropriate documentation if required.
When your registration renewal is completed online you will receive a receipt number (for BPay please refer to Payment Options page). Your registration is not renewed until this receipt number is presented. Please write the receipt number on your certificate of registration.

Changed your registration term?
PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 7 DAYS (10 DAYS IF PAYING BY BPAY) for a new registration certificate and label to be mailed to you. Alternatively, a free replacement label can be obtained from any motor registry. A current label with the correct expiry date must be affixed to your vehicle. The green slip 'use by' date for Short Term Registration renewal for light vehicles is 21 days after the registration expiry date. Renewals made more than 21 days after expiry can only be for 12 months, and a 12-month green slip is required. If you have any questions regarding the 'use by' date of your green slip, contact your CTP insurer.
