I can’t access the practice DKT?

There are two start buttons for the practice DKT – English and All languages.
If the button you selected doesn’t work try the other button.

How can I speed up access to the practice DKT on my computer?

If you normally access the Internet through a proxy server, consult your ISP or browser's help facility and try disabling your proxy connection.

Install the latest Web browser available for your operating system.

The speed of the practice DKT is also dependant on a number of factors outside of the RTA's control, including:

• The speed of your computer processor.
• The amount of memory you have installed in your computer.
• The speed, quality and reliability of your Internet connection.

For best results, we recommend using 200mhz (and faster) processors with 56k (and faster) Internet connections.

It is taking too long to download a new Web browser. What can I do?

If you are having difficulty downloading Microsoft Internet Explorer from an overseas site, try the Australian download site: http://www.zdnet.com.au/

Alternatively, many computer and Internet magazines have a CD-ROM that includes the latest browser software.

What do I do if the practice DKT session has been inactive for more than 10 minutes?

You will need to close the browser window and restart the test.

When will you support other operating systems?

The RTA recognises the need for the practice DKT to work on as many computer platforms as possible.

That is why we have introduced a browser based practice DKT which works on multiple operating systems.

If you are using an operating system other than Windows and Mac OS X

1. Obtain the latest browser version available for your operating system - preferably Mozilla.
2. Install the latest web browser available for your operating system.
3. Ensure JavaScript is enabled.

Do I need to turn off the Pop-up blocker to do the practice DKT?

The practice DKT is not affected by pop-up blocker settings. The test works fine with both the pop up blocker on or off.
