Korean Fonts Installation Instructions

Instruction to install Korean font in MS Windows systems.

In order to view Korean on the internet, we must have either "Korean Windows" or install a sort of Korean Font and IME (Input-Method). In this page, we will explain step by step how to install Korean for Internet in English MS Windows, and how to use it.

This instruction will install Korean IME for Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0. On Windows 2000, the Global IMEs work in any application since that OS has full-featured East Asian input support built in. To know more about Korean IME, please read http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/ime/default.asp  It is recommended that you install Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher to use the Korean IME

Number 2   This Windows update page is the start page for "Microsoft Global IME" installation.

Choose "Microsoft Global IME 5.01 for Korean - with Language Pack".

Then Click "NEXT>>" button. You will see the second page.

Number 3   Click "NEXT>>" button. A "File Download" dialogue box will appear.


       Location

Then choose "Save this program to disk" and click "OK". Choose a location where the file is saved, You can choose either "C:\Windows\DESKTOP" or "C:\Windows\Temp" or any location you want.


       Downloading 

 

Number 4    When downloading is complete, run the program - "komondo.exe".


       Install

Click "Yes". You see the License agreement.

Click "Yes". Then the installation begins.  In a short time, the installation ends, and you see a message box to restart the computer.

Click "Yes" to restart your computer.

 

Number 5    After the computer restart, connect to the internet and start the Internet Explorer. To test the Korean, simply go to our web site - http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/ddkt.htm and select Online Demonstration Driver Knowledge Test in Korean Language.  If you see strange characters, go to the menu "View" - "Encoding", and select Korean.
