Licensing fees

The RTA accepts the following credit cards:

  • American Express, Diners, Mastercard and Visa
Handbooks (including Road Users' Handbook, Heavy Vehicle Drivers' Handbook, Motorcycle Riders' Handbook, Hazard Perception Handbook, and Driver Qualification Handbook). $10 (inc. GST)
Driver Knowledge Test $36 each attempt
Driving Test $44 (inc. GST) each attempt
Riding Test $44 (inc. GST) each attempt
Hazard Perception Test $36 each attempt
Driver Qualification Test $36 each attempt
Application for Exemption - Peer passenger, one passenger or prohibited vehicle condition $25
Replacement Exemption Letter (lost/stolen/destroyed) $11

Learner's $20
Provisional P1 $46
Provisional P2 $72
Unrestricted Driver licence (Gold) & National Heavy Vehicle Driver licence (Magenta) $46 for 1 year, $108 for 3 years, $145 for 5 years
Replacement Licence $21
Photo card administration fee $43

For licences that have been lost or stolen the replacement fee is $21 (learner's licence $18).

RTA customers seeking a pensioner concession must provide a current NSW pensioner concession card for a no fee licence. For more information, see link above or phone the RTA on 13 22 13.
