Licensing fees

The RTA accepts the following credit cards:

  • American Express, Diners, Mastercard and Visa
Handbooks (including Road Users' Handbook, Heavy Vehicle Drivers' Handbook, Motorcycle Riders' Handbook, Hazard Perception Handbook, and Driver Qualification Handbook). $11 (inc. GST)
Driver Knowledge Test $37 each attempt
Driving Test $46 (inc. GST) each attempt
Riding Test $46 (inc. GST) each attempt
Hazard Perception Test $37 each attempt
Driver Qualification Test $37 each attempt
Application for Exemption - Peer passenger, one passenger or prohibited vehicle condition $26
Replacement Exemption Letter (lost/stolen/destroyed) $11

Provisional P1 $47
Provisional P2 $75
Unrestricted Driver licence (Gold) & National Heavy Vehicle Driver licence (Magenta) $47 for 1 year, $113 for 3 years, $151 for 5 years

For licences that have been lost or stolen the replacement fee is $22 (learner's licence $19).
