Medical and driving tests
Summary
The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) must be satisfied that all licence holders are medically fit to drive. A licence holder can be directed to have regular medical examinations because of a medical condition or because of advanced age. Some drivers must also have an annual driving test.
If you are concerned about the driving ability of an older driver, the brochure "Worried about the driving ability of an older driver?" offers some helpful advice and explains some of the options available to deal with this sensitive issue.
