Criteria for granting a tow truck operator licence

The criteria for a tow truck operator licence are the requirements that applicants must meet before a tow truck operator licence can be issued by Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority).

A person or members of a corporation wishing to be accredited to operate a tow truck service:

  • must be of good repute
  • must be fit and proper
  • must be able to meet and continue to meet the appropriate requirements in respect of:
    • Business premises
    • Vehicles
    • Insurance

The applicant must have also:

  • read and understood the criteria, conditions and procedures for licensing as outlined in the operator information package
  • completed an application form and answered all questions truthfully
  • met all the requirements specified in the criteria

Then you will be required to:

  • deliver or post the completed application form, all the documentation and payment , to Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority)
  • wait for advice from Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority)
