Actions against operators

What action will be taken against the operator?

Operators of heavy vehicles will be subject to the following penalties when the RTA records strikes against the registration of their vehicle:

Vehicles 4.5 - 12 tonne GVM Vehicles > 12 tonne GVM
First Strike Warning Warning
Second Strike Warning If travelling at less than 105km/h or less: Warning
If travelling at 105km/h or more: Directive to have speed limiter checked/fitted
Third Strike 1 month suspension* 1 month suspension*
Fourth and subsequent Strike 3 month suspension* 3 month suspension*

* Non-FIRS vehicles registered in another jurisdiction have their visiting privileges suspended within New South Wales for the equivalent period.
