Renewing a heavy vehicle

Did you know you can now renew your registration via myRTA.com and save yourself a trip to the motor registry?

National charging reforms for heavy vehicles and trailers are being introduced throughout Australia. This may mean you need to attend a motor registry in person to renew your registration. See National charging reforms to find out how you are affected.

The 3 easy steps to renew rego via myRTA.com

  1. Buy your green slip as you normally do.
Most CTP insurers send confirmation of payment to Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) electronically.
  2. Have an inspection.
Your renewal notice will indicate what type of inspection is required. See Heavy Vehicle Inspection Scheme (HVIS).  Most inspection stations provide e-Safety checks.
Confirm with your garage before you go online.
  3. Renew online at myRTA.com
Once you have bought your green slip and got your e-Safety check, you are ready to renew your rego online for three, six or 12 months.

Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) provides a secure transaction environment which allows you to renew your rego online anytime anywhere.

Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) accepts all major credit cards for phone and online renewals, and you can use BPAY too for online renewals.
