Charges for heavy vehicles registered under the Federal Interstate Registration Scheme (FIRS) are calculated using the vehicle's type, Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM), the number of axles and the vehicle's nominated configuration. The nominated configuration for a truck or prime mover refers to the combination of the hauling unit and trailers. You must nominate the highest configuration at which you intend to operate the vehicle.
