Authorised Crane Inspection Station (ACIS) scheme

Introduction

Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) administers the Authorised Inspection Station (AIS) scheme. Once AIS authorisation has been obtained, various accreditations may be added, subject to Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) approval, including the new Authorised Crane Inspection Station (ACIS) scheme.

Examiners authorised under ACIS are accredited to inspect SP2 cranes. These are truck-based or purpose-built mobile cranes that are over 12 tonnes GVM and overmass on one or more axles or axle groups.

Training for AIS authorisation and the various additional accreditations are conducted by TAFE.
