The Mobile Crane Concessional Benefit Scheme (MCCBS) allows mobile cranes to benefit from improved access arrangements throughout Sydney, Newcastle, Gosford and Wollongong.
What are the benefits of the MCCBS?
Under the MCCBS, mobile cranes are able to travel during peak traffic periods and clearway and transitway hours within the Sydney, Newcastle, Gosford and Wollongong zones.
Mobile cranes operating under the MCCBS are eligible to travel, Monday to Friday, during the times of:
7am and 9am; and
4pm and 6 pm
within the Sydney, Newcastle, Gosford and Wollongong zones, and on the Sydney to Newcastle Freeway (F3) between the Hawkesbury River and the Pacific Highway interchange at Kariong.
AND
during the standard clearway or transitway hours in Sydney between the hours of:
6am and 10am; and
3 pm and 7 pm
where clearway or transit lane restrictions apply.
TheĀ above travel concessions do not apply on statewide holidays or public holidays.
Cranes operating under the MCCBS can also obtain access into and within Sydney CBD under specific conditions.
NOTE: Mobile cranes operating under the MCCBS must comply with all route restrictions contained in the General Class 1 Oversize (Special-Purpose Vehicle) Notice 2007, and/or with any Overmass/Oversize permit issued to the vehicle.
What cranes are eligible for the MCCBS?
Mobile cranes with a width-dimension of between 2.5 and 2.9 metres are eligible to enrol under the MCCBS.
Migrating to the IAP
Transitional arrangements for cranes operating under the MCCBS to migrate to the IAP are currently being finalised.
