Summary
Heavy vehicles represent one of our greatest road safety challenges. This publication focuses on issues and countermeasures related to heavy vehicle safety.
Heavy trucks travel more than 3.5 billion kilometres per year in NSW. Although they make up around 2 per cent of vehicles registered in NSW, heavy trucks represent 6 per cent of the kilometres travelled in the State and are involved in on average 17 per cent of fatal crashes.
