From 7 to 9 June 2000 inclusive, an International Workshop on Tunnel Ventilation was held in Sydney, Australia to discuss the management of vehicle emissions from road tunnels. The workshop aim was to foster the exchange of knowledge and ideas about tunnel ventilation techniques, technologies, and strategies that are being used around the globe.
During the three days nine guest speakers from the UK, Norway, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the USA, each with extensive experience and expertise in areas ranging from tunnel and tunnel ventilation design, environmental modelling and air treatment equipment, were invited to make presentations and contribute to discussion. Representatives from the community, NSW Environment Protection Authority, NSW Department of Health, and consultants to the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority for tunnel and tunnel ventilation design also gave presentations.
Representatives from the Lane Cove Tunnel Action Group (LCTAG) and Residents Against Polluting Stacks (RAPS) attended, as well as the Victorian Environment Protection Authority, VIC Roads, CSIRO, Department of Urban Affairs and Planning, and the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority.
