Design reference documents

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) Design Reference Documents are policy documents within the meaning of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW) ("GIPA Act") and these documents are accordingly made available to you pursuant to Section 6 (1) of the GIPA Act.

Consistent with the GIPA Act, the purposes for which these documents have been made available for inspection by you are:

• to satisfy RMS' obligation under Section 6 (1) of the GIPA Act to make its policy documents available for inspection and purchase by members of the public and
• to ensure that you, as a member of the public who may be affected by the operation of this document, have access to the document.

The Design Reference Documents were developed by RMS to set minimum design standards and provide guidance to designers of RMS funded infrastructure including roadworks and bridgeworks.

If you use these documents for any purpose which is not consistent with the above you do so at your own risk. RMS accepts no liability whatsoever arising from use of the Design Reference Documents for a specific design. You must carry out all necessary works and checks to ensure that the design will perform as required.

RMS makes no representations or warranty that the Design Reference Documents have been prepared with reasonable care and does not assume a duty of care to you. RMS has no responsibility to inform you of any matter coming to RMS notice which may affect the quality of the Design Reference Documents in any way. You may print a copy of the Design Reference Documents for your own purposes and use them as the basis for designs for RMS funded infrastructure.

If electronic copies of the Design Reference Documents are required these may be supplied by the relevant RMS Project Manager on application.
