As part of the Windsor Road upgrade, the RTA has widened Windsor Road between Boundary Road and Level Crossing Road at Vineyard to a four-lane divided road.
Construction of this section commenced in December 2004 and was completed in September 2006.
The upgrading of Windsor Road was fully funded by the NSW Government.
Benefits of the project
The project has major benefits for the local community as well as for through traffic.
Public transport has been enhanced by constructing bus bays and providing bus priority lanes at signalised intersections.
Key features
Four traffic lanes with sealed shoulders.
Raising the road at low areas and improving drainage to meet McGraths Hill flood evacuation requirements.
Dedicated right-turn bays, left-in/left-out access and safer intersections with various local roads.
Bus bays along the route.
Shared off-road footpath/cycleway along the western side of Windsor Road.
Extensive landscaping along the road and median strip.
Urban design initiatives to retain the historical character of the route and create a ‘parkway’ environment.
Left-in/left-out only access for properties fronting Windsor Road to improve safety.
