Public transport imperatives

There is an urgent need to address problems concerning the efficiency and reliability of buses along Victoria Road between the Gladesville Bridge and the Crescent in Rozelle. Buses carry a significant proportion of commuters along Victoria Road and the RTA has a responsibility to ensure that public transport along this section of Victoria Road is able to move as swiftly and efficiently as possible.

Below are some figures that highlight the heavy utilisation of Victoria Road on a daily basis, between Gladesville Bridge and The Crescent, by buses and private vehicles.

Facts:

  • Around 170 buses carry 8000 passengers along Victoria Road each working day during the AM peak period.
  • Around 35,000 people travel by bus on Victoria Road each day as measured over seven days.
  • A total of 200,000 people travel on Victoria Road by bus each day as measured over seven days.
  • Over 75,000 vehicles, including buses, travel on Victoria Road each day as measured over seven days.
