Changed parking arrangements from 17 September 2009

Description of works

Existing section of unrestricted parking on Spit Road between Punch and Awaba streets in a citybound direction to be replaced with full time ‘No Stopping’zone. Six half hour parking spaces will be retained to access businesses close to Awaba Street.

Benefits

This removes a congestion point as buses and other vehicles do not have to merge into the centre lane and improves the operation of the signalised intersection of Spit Road and Ourimbah Road. This is of particular benefit during weekends and off peak periods.

Progress

Following consultation with the community, the section of Spit Road between Punch and Awaba streets in a citybound direction is to be a full time "No Stopping" zone from Thursday 17 September 2009.  Six half hour parking spaces will be retained to enable access to businesses close to Awaba Street.
