Kerbside light poles to be relocated

Proposed works

18 kerbside light poles have been identified as being located with insufficient and unsafe clearance from traffic. The poles are often hit by bus and truck mirrors and by bus overhang both on the approach and departure from the kerb. Traffic congestion may also occur at the poles as buses merge partly into the second lane to avoid hitting the poles. It is proposed to relocate the poles clear of the kerb.

Benefits

The safety of pedestrians and bus passengers will be enhanced and there will be a reduction in traffic congestion since buses will be able to travel wholly within their lane.

Progress

Community information for these works is scheduled to commence around September 2009, with physical works commencing approximately late 2009.
