Proposed works

Extend the T3 transit lane to 7.30pm.

Benefits

Extension of the T3 transit lane by an extra half hour will benefit all legal users of the T3 lane including buses and private vehicles with 3 or more occupants. Travel time for buses will become more predictable as there will be no obstruction from parked vehicles during this time. Less lane changing will also improve safety and reduce the potential for side swipe crashes.

Progress

Following the first round of consultation with Mosman Municipal Council and North Sydney Council, the RTA reinvestigated the need to extend Clearway/T3 Transit Lane restrictions on Spit/Military roads between Park Avenue and Ourimbah Road.

A survey of vehicles breaching the road rules by parking during the restricted time periods was conducted. The result indicated there was in fact minimal infringement.

In light of this the RTA, in consultation with the STA, has decided not to implement this option, unless the incidence of overstaying increases and inconveniences STA buses or increases to bus patronage numbers occur.
