The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) is continuing to upgrade Hoxton Park Road from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided road between Cowpasture Road and Whitford Road. This project is fully funded by the NSW Government.
Background
Hoxton Park Road is the main connection between Cowpasture Road at Hoxton Park and the Hume Highway at Liverpool. The road passes through both residential and industrial areas.
The upgrade has reduced traffic congestion along Hoxton Park Road.
What happens next
Tenders for the final stage of work on Hoxton Park Road, between Cowpasture Road and Banks Road close on 25 June 2008.
Construction is expected to commence in late 2008.
Features of the project
Twin bridges will be built over Hinchinbrook Creek and will include a pedestrian pathway.
Upgrading of traffic lights at the intersection of Hoxton Park Road and First Avenue and Whitford/ Illaroo Road.
Traffic lights will be installed at the intersection of Hoxton Park Road and Glen Innes Road.
New service road between First Avenue and Dorrigo Avenue to improve access to shops and residential estates.
Bus stop bays will be installed along Hoxton Park Road at Glen Innes Road, Dorrigo Avenue, First Avenue near the Good Samaritan Catholic College and Whitford Road.
Shared pedestrian and cyclist pathway on the northern side of Hoxton Park Road linking Cowpasture Road with the M7 shared pathway at Wilson Road.

New traffic lights at the intersection of Webster Road and a right turn bay for eastbound traffic.
