The proposal to widen Camden Valley Way from a two lane road to a four lane divided road between Bernera Road and Cowpasture Road at Horningsea Park is currently proceeding into final design with all public comments being considered.
Features of the project
Camden Valley Way widened to a four lane divided road with central median from Bernera Road to Cowpasture Road.

Providing designated turning lanes.
Provision for indented bus bays.
Benefits of the project
Improved safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
Improved access for the developing residential area in Prestons and Edmondson Park.
Reduced traffic congestion.
Landscaping and urban design to complement the local environment.
Improved access to the M5 and M7 motorways.
Improved flood resistance on this section of road.
What has happened so far?
The preferred concept design, a review of environmental factors and species impact statement were on public display from 7 December 2007 until 13 February 2008. A public information session was held at William Carey Christian School on 6 February 2008.
The review of environmental factors assessed environmental and social impacts, including traffic impacts, urban design and flora and fauna. After receiving comments and submissions following the display the environmental report was approved on 22 April 2008.
What happens next?
All community and stakeholder comments are being considered in progressing the development of this project.
The RTA has engaged a road design consultancy to undertake detailed design. Once the detailed design is complete, the RTA will invite tenders for construction. The RTA will continue to consult the community on the detailed design and throughout construction.
Construction is expected to start in late 2009.
