What has happened so far?
The concept design, a review of environmental factors and species impact statement were on public display for community comment from 7 December 2007 until 13 February 2008. A public information session was held at William Carey Christian School on 6 February 2008.
The review of environmental factors assessed environmental and social impacts, including traffic impacts, urban design and flora and fauna. After receiving comments and submissions following the display, the project was approved in April 2008.
The final design was completed in April 2009. Tenders for construction were invited in May 2009 and awarded to BMD Constructions Pty Ltd on 30 July 2009.
What happens next?
The RTA started construction in October 2009 with the relocation of utilities such as water, gas and telephone lines. The project is currently scheduled to be completed by mid 2011, weather permitting.
The RTA will continue to update the community with information about the project as construction continues.
