Project Overview
The bridge over the Pambula River on the southern outskirts of Pambula is being replaced. This $17 million project is funded by the New South Wales Government and Australian Government.
The project features:
- A new bridge constructed above the ‘1 in 100’ year flood level.
- Road approaches built above the ‘1 in 20’ year flood level.
- The bridge and road approaches constructed on a new alignment, alongside the existing road, to minimise the impact on nearby properties and agricultural land.
On 16 March 2008, traffic was switched onto the new bridge and approaches after a community celebration day.
Current Activity
Current construction activities include:
- Demolition of the old timber bridge
- Revegetation of the redundant highway alignment
- Construction of property accesses and cycleway connections over the redundant highway
