Coopernook Bypass

Length: 4.2 km
Type: Dual carriageway bypass
Status: Open to traffic March 2006
Funding: Fully funded by the NSW Government

The Coopernook Bypass opened to traffic on Wednesday 22 March 2006. To celebrate the opening of the bypass, a family fun day was held on Sunday 19 March 2006.

The 4.2 kilometre bypass east of Coopernook village (north of Newcastle), involved the construction of a four-lane divided road, with new twin bridges over the Lansdowne River and Coopernook Creek.

The bypass removes heavy vehicles and highway traffic from Coopernook village, improving pedestrian safety and traffic flow through the village.

For more information contact the Pacific Highway Office on 1800 653 092 (toll free).
