Environmental impact statement

The environmental impact assessment (EIS) process seeks to ensure that all relevant environmental matters are considered and that community and interest groups are involved in the development of the proposal and the assessment of its potential impacts.

The environmental impact statement quantifies and assesses potential adverse impacts, and documents the likely benefits of the proposal. It also outlines some environmental management measures that would reduce adverse impacts, and discusses opportunities created by the proposal that would increase benefits. The information also provides a foundation for future monitoring of the environmental performance of the proposal.

A summary brochure has been prepared (see below) as well as a community update (see the Community involvement page) to assist the community's understanding of the proposal.

The period for the submission of representations to the EIS ended on Friday 5th August 2005. A total of 26 representations were received.
