Key considerations

The environmental assessment process seeks to ensure that all relevant environmental matters are considered and that community and interest groups are involved in the development of the proposal and the assessment of its potential impacts.

There are a number of issues to be considered for this project. These issues include:

  • Impacts on existing residences, businesses and community facilities in Kempsey, Frederickton and surrounding areas.
  • Impacts on the Tamban State Forest and other areas of conservation significance.
  • Impacts on flooding behaviour, water quality and wetlands.
  • Impacts on threatened flora and fauna species and communities, and their habitats.
  • Impacts on cultural heritage sites and values.
  • Bridging options and interchange designs along the route.
  • The overall scale of the project and staging options.

More detailed information on these issues is provided in the project application, environmental assessment, submissions report and the project's conditions of approval on the public information page.
