The environmental impact assessment process seeks to ensure that all relevant environmental matters are considered and that the community and interest groups are involved in the development of the proposal and impact assessment.
The environmental impact statement and species impact statement quantify and assess potential adverse impacts, and document the likely benefits of the proposal. It also outlines the type of environmental management measures available to reduce adverse impacts, and discusses opportunities created by the proposal that would increase benefits. The information also provides a foundation for future monitoring of the environmental performance of the proposal.
