Additional crossing of the Clarence River at Grafton

This project has been affected by the Federal Government’s new AusLink funding arrangement with NSW.

The four-year AusLink deal sees the Federal Government reduce funding levels for maintenance, and stops the funding of safety and urgent minor works, forcing NSW to make up these funding shortfalls by delaying or reducing funding to other projects. The RTA is deferring three major projects for at least four years, and launching a new drive to reduce costs in the Roads and Traffic Authority.

This project will need to be deferred for at least four years.

The project

The RTA commenced investigations into the feasibility of a second bridge crossing in the Grafton area in 2002.

Detailed studies and several community workshops have been undertaken to assist in determining a preferred location for a new bridge.
