Timber bridge manual

Timber bridge manual

The Timber Bridge Manual has been prepared to capture the RTA’s best practices in timber bridge rehabilitation and maintenance. It also consolidates RTA’s timber bridge related policies into a single document. The manual outlines current field practices and integrates both design and field construction considerations.

The manual comprises eight sections, encompassing the maintenance and rehabilitation of all timber bridge types including trusses, beam/girder spans, stress laminated bridges, concrete overlays, timber-concrete composites and includes timber substructures.

RTA’s Timber Bridge Manual is provided to guide designers and personnel working on timber bridge rehabilitation and maintenance projects. In the event of any inconsistency between the manual and RTA specifications, the latter shall take precedence. For clarification of any issues, please contact RTA’s Senior Bridge Engineer, Rehabilitation Design within RTA Bridge Engineering on 02 8837 0832 in the first instance.
