As part of the Windsor Road upgrade, the RTA has widened the existing two-lane road to a four-lane divided road between Roxborough Park Road and Norwest Boulevarde at Baulkham Hills. The upgrading of this three kilometre section of Windsor Road is fully funded by the NSW State Government. Construction on this project commenced in May 2005 and was completed five months ahead of schedule in July 2006.
Benefits of the project
The upgrading of this three kilometre section of Windsor Road was fully funded by the NSW Government and has major benefits for the local community as well as for through traffic.
Travel times and safety along the road have been greatly improved and congestion reduced. There will also be improved access for local road users, including pedestrians and cyclists.
Public transport has been enhanced by the construction of bus bays and the provision of bus priority lanes at signalised intersections.
The upgrade has also improved access to local residential areas, the Baulkham Hills Private Hospital and the Castle Hill and Norwest industrial/commercial areas.
