The Roads and Traffic Authority has completed safety improvement works to the intersection of Hillsborough Road and to the western end of the local service road at Warners Bay.
The project was funded by the State Government.
Improvements include:
New traffic control signals at the intersection
The reconstruction of approximately 300 metres of the existing pavement along Hillsborough Road.
Signalised pedestrian access across Hillsborough Road.
Provision of two travel lanes in each direction through the signalised intersection on Hillsborough Road.
Provision of two right turn lanes out of the existing north side service road with one lane also shared with the left turn.
Relocation of access to the commercial area on the south side of Hillsborough Road away from the new signalised intersection (to a temporary location pending future works by council under section 94).
Retention of the existing right turn bay into the Shopping Precinct just to the west of the Mobil Service Station.
Provision of a protected right turn bay for access to the Bayside Church and The Glades properties from Hillsborough Road (temporary arrangements pending future works by council under section 94).
Provision of protected turn bays both into and from Hillsborough Road at the eastern end of the proposed new south side service road (temporary pending future works by council under section 94).
Minor drainage and public utility adjustments to facilitate the above changes.

Work commenced on 28 February 2007 and was completed on 29 November 2007 with the commissioning of new traffic signals.
