Strategic bus corridor network taking shape

Strategic bus corridors

The RTA and Ministry of Transport are developing a network of 43 Strategic Bus Corridors across the Sydney metropolitan area.

Bus priority measures, such as bus lanes and bus early start signals at intersections, are being implemented on these corridors to improve the reliability of bus services and to reduce bus journey times.

The strategic bus corridors were identified as part of the Review of Bus Services in NSW (the Unsworth Review). The network covers Sydney as well as Newcastle and the Central Coast and Wollongong and the Illawarra.

The corridors will allow buses and bus priority measures to be concentrated in critical areas. Bus priority measures along these corridors allow operators to provide improved bus services.
