Feedback sought on proposed bus lane in Epping
Community feedback is being sought on a proposed bus-only lane at the intersection of Beecroft Road and Bridge Street, Epping. A plan of the proposed works is available in the files box below.
The bus lane has been proposed to provide more buses between Parramatta and Macquarie Park as part of a review of the State Transit Authority (STA) bus network in the region.
The proposal would require construction of an eastbound bus-only lane in Bridge Street and bus-only traffic signals at the Beecroft Road intersection.
The bus lane would allow buses travelling east along Bridge Street to turn right over the Epping rail bridge and then left into Langston Place and continue on to Macquarie Park.
Other changes would include:
- Providing a pedestrian median island on the western end of the bus only lane in Bridge Street.
- Installing safety barriers on the kerb side of the footpath from the pedestrian refuge in Bridge Street to about 30 metres along Beecroft Road.
- Removing three on-street parking spaces in Bridge Street between Rawson Street and Beecroft Road to accommodate the pedestrian crossing.
- Relocating, in consultation with Australia Post, an Australia Post mail box.
- Relocating, in consultation with Parramatta City Council, the public art sculpture in Bridge Street.
Implementation of the bus lane would be subject to the outcome of the STA’s community consultation process and on RTA investigations into traffic impacts on the surrounding road network.
