Roads and Maritime Services' (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) alumni organisation has been relaunched as Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) ImmoRoads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority)ls, which is open to all staff, including those going on extended leave or resigning.
Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) Chief Executive Les Wielinga says that initiatives such as the Immortals are a way for Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) to address the loss of knowledge and skills that occurs when valued staff members retire or move on.
Inaugural Immortal Lew Laing retired in 2008 after 42 years with Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) and one of its predecessor organisations, the Department of Main Roads.
"The people that are leaving Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) for either retirement or other careers over the next few years represent a very significant knowledge bank that Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) needs to maintain contact with," Lew says.
