In this area, we build and maintain roads, bridges, culverts, traffic signals and other traffic facilities such as signs and guardrails. We enforce the regulations for heavy vehicles using our highways and manage the State road network across NSW.

We are the works ‘engine room’ of Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority)–our annual program is developed in collaboration with the other core directorates of Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) andwe act as agents on their behalf to deliver the enormous annual works program of around $1.6 billion.
