Heritage

Role

  • Advise Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) management on heritage issues that emanate from Roads and Maritime Services activities.
  • To be the core body in Roads and Maritime Services where heritage issues and issues involving heritage items are referred for discussion and further action.
  • Provide advice on managing the integration of heritage into the mainstream of Roads and Maritime Services procedures.
  • Assist in establishing the strategic direction for Roads and Maritime Services management of heritage issues.

Authority

Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority) Heritage Committee was established to advise Roads and Maritime Services on the positive and proactive management of heritage issues that come from Roads and Maritime Services activities.

Membership

The Chairperson is the General Manager, Infrastructure Maintenance Roads and Maritime Services (replacing Roads and Traffic Authority). Membership of the Committee is by Roads and Maritime Services invitation, following discussion with the NSW Heritage Office and the National Trust of Australia (NSW), and includes a range of professional officers and community members with expertise in heritage matters. The Committee currently comprises representatives from:

  • NSW Heritage Office
  • National Trust of Australia (NSW)
  • Institution of Engineers
  • Roads and Maritime Services
  • Community

Meetings

Meetings are held quarterly.

Submissions

Submissions to the Committee are generally confidential, but may be made public under certain circumstances.
